The Intel 2TB 670p NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is designed to provide you with the capacity and performance to handle everyday tasks such as multitasking applications and playing games. Featuring the latest QLC (Quad Level Cell) NAND technology, the 670p is designed to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 3500 MB/s, which is nearly double the speed of the previous generation, in addition to 2700 MB/s sequential write speeds. This 2TB NVMe PCIe NVMe 3.0 x4 solid-state drive installs into an M.2 2280 slot and is compatible with a wide variety of desktop computers, laptops, and other devices.
The Intel 670p is a good overall drive, posting competitive performance other than relatively slow off-cache performance. Our only question is why the company rates the drive for far fewer terabytes written (TBW) than the competition.
In layman’s terms, it’s basically a thing that tells your computer how to read what’s on the storage.
In slightly more technical terms, NVMe is a method of interfacing with storage that supersedes the previous AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) specification.
NVMe was designed from the ground up to accommodate modern SSDs as opposed to AHCI, which was made to accommodate the old platter drives (HDDs) of ye olden days
